SpaceX's Falcon 9 carried Canada's next-generation RADARSAT constellation into orbit in June 2019 — a mission 15 years in the making that will provide critical Earth imaging data in support of climate monitoring.
On June 12, 2019, SpaceX successfully launched the Canadian RADARSAT satellites into orbit with the Falcon 9. Mission milestones that date back to December 2004 as offered from the Canadian Space Agency (CSA).
The newer satellites will replace the RADARSAT-2 which reached its end of life back in 2014. The RADARSAT satellites will be positioned at 370 miles above the earth providing imaging to support a host of initiatives including climate change.
